Specialty Gases

What are &#;Specialty Gases&#;?

In the broadest sense of the word, &#;Specialty Gases&#; can be defined as anything outside of the category of &#;Industrial Gases&#;. While that generalization is somewhat vague, it&#;s also quite accurate. Industrial gases are typically lower purity materials used for less demanding applications - such as welding, construction, inert atmosphere requirements, steel furnace combustion, etc. Many of these products are produced onsite by air separation equipment sized to specific requirements of a bulk application. Others are delivered in micro-bulk, bulk, or cylinder quantities.

Specialty gases are characterized by higher purity specifications (generally >99.999%), mixtures of gases manufactured to very close tolerances, and specially packaged gases in an array of cylinder and gas connection combinations. These products are used in demanding applications such as microelectronics, air quality monitoring (both calibration of specific gas detection monitors and environmental air quality monitoring), R&D, medical use, and a host of others.
